We supply mammography and tomosynthesis systems, install them and set up the quality control programme that keeps them legal. A mammography unit is only as good as the quality assurance behind it.
What to settle before anyone quotes you a price
| Point | Why it matters | What we confirm in writing |
|---|---|---|
| 2D only or tomosynthesis | Changes the clinical value and the price bracket | Whether DBT is supplied, licensed, or only upgradable later and at what cost |
| Detector | Image quality and dose | Detector technology, pixel pitch and field of view |
| Automatic exposure control | Dose consistency across breast density | The AEC mode supplied and how it is calibrated |
| Compression | Comfort, which drives attendance | Compression force range and paddle set supplied |
| Biopsy | A late retrofit is expensive | Whether stereotactic or tomosynthesis-guided biopsy is included, optional or impossible |
| Reading workstation | A mammography image cannot be read on any screen | Whether a compliant high-resolution reading workstation is included |
| Conformity and QC | Legal operation and screening accreditation | IEC 60601-2-45, the declaration of conformity, and the quality control protocol your authority requires |
The room
- Shielding. Lower energies than CT, but still calculated for the workload and the adjacent occupancy by a qualified physicist.
- Space and privacy. Operator position behind the screen, patient dressing area, and a layout that does not make women queue in a corridor.
- Power and climate. Stable supply and a controlled environment for the detector.
- Network. PACS connection, prior-image retrieval, and DICOM conformance checked against your reading workstation.
- Quality control. Phantoms, test tools and the schedule, set up at handover and not left for the radiographer to invent.
How the project runs
Survey
Room, services, access and workflow, with a written report.
Specify and quote
Configuration against your expected volume, with biopsy and workstation priced openly rather than hidden as options.
Prepare and install
Shielding, power, layout, then delivery, installation and PACS connection.
Commission and hand over
Acceptance testing, dose measurement, quality control programme set up, radiographer training and the documentation file.
Common questions
Is tomosynthesis worth the difference?
It depends on your population and on who reads the images. It adds reading time and storage as well as capability. We will give you the trade-off for your case mix rather than push the more expensive unit.
Do you set up the quality control programme?
Yes. Test tools, the schedule, the record sheets and the training to run them, at handover. It is the part most often forgotten, and the first thing an inspection asks for.
Can you supply a refurbished unit?
Yes, with its history, the detector condition, the parts replaced and the regulatory status documented. If any of that is missing, we say so.
Send us the room and the requirement
A room drawing, the throughput you need and the budget range. We come back with a configuration, a lead time and the site works that go with it.
