From the first feasibility study to commissioning, we design, verify and de-risk industrial installations for operators who cannot afford downtime.

Where revamping projects actually fail

Very few projects fail on the calculation. They fail because the plant as built no longer matches the drawings, because the line list was never updated after the last shutdown, or because a stress analysis was run on a piping class that has since been requalified.

So we start from the plant as it stands today, not as it was designed. Field survey, laser scanning and document reconciliation come before the calculation — which is why what we hand over can actually be built.

Studies & FEED

Feasibility studies before any capital commitment, then Front-End Engineering Design at the level of definition needed to budget, tender and schedule with confidence.

Piping and materials, to the code

Our teams work to international codes and standards, in particular the ASME framework applied to piping, pressure equipment and materials selection.

That background is what lets us move from a drawing to the right material specification, and from a specification to a part that is actually available and certified.

The codes we design to

An engineering deliverable is only worth the code it can be traced back to. Below is the framework we work in, discipline by discipline.

DisciplineCodes and standards appliedTypical deliverable
ProcessISO 10628 for PFD and P&ID, API 520 / 521 for relief and depressuringHeat and material balance, PFD, P&ID, relief study
PipingASME B31.3 process piping, ASME B31.4 and B31.8 pipelines, ASME B16.5 / B16.47 flangesLine list, piping classes, isometrics, material take-off
Stress analysisASME B31.3 / B31.4 / B31.8, EN 13480Stress report, support and anchor loads, nozzle load verification
Static equipmentASME VIII Div. 1, API 650 and API 620 tanks, API 660 exchangersData sheets, mechanical calculation notes
MaterialsASME II, NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for sour serviceMaterial selection report, corrosion allowance, welding specification

From site survey to signed drawings

Survey

Site visit, laser scan and document collection, reconciled against the existing drawings. What does not match is listed before anything is calculated.

Basis of design

Codes, design conditions, battery limits and exclusions agreed with you in writing. This single document prevents most of the arguments that come later.

Study

Calculation, modelling and drawings at the level agreed: feasibility, FEED or detailed engineering. Assumptions are stated, not buried.

Review

Internal check, then a review session with your team. Every comment is logged and closed in writing, with the reason when it is rejected.

Handover and support

Native files and PDFs, calculation notes signed, and our engineers available during construction rather than a file dropped at the end.

What you receive

A study has to be usable by the people who build, operate and audit the plant afterwards.

  • A written basis of design, agreed before any calculation starts
  • Calculation notes traceable to the code clause applied
  • P&ID, isometrics, plot plans and material take-off, in native format and PDF
  • As-built 3D model and registered point cloud when scanning is in scope
  • Material selection and welding specifications
  • Fitness-for-service or remaining life assessment where integrity is the scope
  • A comment register showing every review point and how it was closed
  • Engineering support during construction, not only at handover

Frequently asked

Can you work on a plant with no reliable drawings?

That is the normal case, not the exception. Laser scanning and field survey rebuild the geometry, and the documentation is reconstructed from what is actually installed. It is also the only honest starting point for a revamping study.

Which codes do you design to?

ASME B31.3 for process piping, B31.4 and B31.8 for pipelines, ASME VIII for pressure vessels, API 650 and 620 for tanks, EN 13480 where European codes apply. The applicable code is fixed in the basis of design before the study starts, not assumed.

Do you take a project from feasibility through to detailed design?

Yes, and we can also pick it up at any stage. Taking over a study started elsewhere begins with a check of the assumptions, because inheriting a calculation without verifying its basis is how errors get built.

Can you check or review a study done by another engineering company?

Yes. Third-party review is a normal scope: codes applied, load cases, assumptions and margins, with a written opinion you can put in front of a client or an insurer.

Do you handle sour service design?

Yes. Material selection follows NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156, with hardness limits and welding requirements carried through to the specifications and the material certificates.
